Description | This conversation-analytic study explores the resources used by in-service EFL teachers to manage participation of multiple learners at once, and the learners’ reactions to them. It analyses video-recordings of nine lessons (387 min.) taught by six in-service teachers during their teaching practice. The study presents a range of resources employed to secure participation and shows that their deployment is often tied to the pedagogical goal of an activity. The findings have implications for teacher education, mainly in relation to the development of their Classroom Interactional Competence (Walsh & Li, 2013). |
