Description | The project delves into the questions of representation and identity of the influential and wealthy on the micro-blogging social media platform Twitter via multimodality. It analyses a post by Elon Musk with concepts of critical discourse analysis and multimodal analyses, namely Wiggin’s elaborated model of meme dimensions. The model is enhanced by two more dimensions to demonstrate the tactics of representation in more detail. A subsequent quantitative study reflects the reception of the representation and to what extent it is accepted or rejected by a wide audience. The project is refined by a new objectivity in data analysis (bypassing Twitter algorithms on user preference), which demonstrates a variation in results regarding the previous instance of this ongoing project. |
