ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The department of primary and preprimary education provides two important study fields: primary school teacher training and pre-primary school teacher training.

  • Cooperation with the Czech and abroad primary and nursery schools, the alternative ones included
  • Innovation and research
  • Mobility of students and teachers and mutual dialogue about the objectives of primary and pre-primary education

Department's activities

The department provides instructions of the pedagogical and applied disciplines and cultivates student's coherent range of knowledge about pre-primary and primary education phenomenons and appropriate teaching competencies, included knowledge and competencies of some subject didactics. The department also co-ordinates students' practical preparation and participates on the organization and realization of the student-teachers' practical trainings. The department mediates the collaboration with the externists, so students can familiarize the actual themes of educational praxis.

History of the department

Origins of the Department of Education can be found in the 1946 when the pedagogical and psychological seminars were established by dr. Jan Vaněk and dr. Vilém Chmelař. Since its very begin, the department was oriented on primary and lower secondary student-teachers' pedagogical and psychological training.

With changs in faculty and society too, the department has undergone remarkable organizational and conceptional changes. The Department of Primary Educationn was established 1st October 2009.
