Popis Numerous studies have demonstrated that large linguistic corpora, which are ideally dynamic, i.e. provide new information over time, are effective tools for researching the occurrence and context of neologisms. However, the question of what happens in speech, which is only marginally observable in these web corpora, remains outside the scope of research into modern neology. We propose to cross-reference data collection methods (using available corpora with questionnaires from students and other age groups) in order to demonstrate the complementarity of the methods and to circumscribe the circulation of borrowings containing the element binge- (e.g. binge-drinking, binge-watching, binge-eating, etc.) outside the terminology of specialists in societal pathologies in order to find out what impact these compulsive behaviours have in the populations most concerned. The main hypothesis is that the Poles, Czechs and French appreciate the economy and expressiveness of borrowing from English to the detriment of using native semantic equivalents. A questionnaire with identical content in the three languages was used to evaluate this hypothesis.
