Popis Human bodily experience is characterized by the immediate and continuous experience that our body and its parts belong to us, often called self-attribution, body ownership and or mineness. In some kinds of Buddhist meditation practice can be this usual experience disrupted. Feelings of "loosing hands", "missing legs", disappearing of other body parts, out of body experience or near death experiences are not out of the common. We can find these self-reports also in our everyday life – in a sleep. Sleep research has well documented loosing of sense of one's own body in a sleep paralysis (sleep-off set phase) and disappearing of body parts in a hypnagogic state (sleep-on set phase).
