Popis | The industrial revolution in the middle of 19th century brought economic and social changes that were reflected in the landscape design. The industrial utilization of the landscape has changed at the end of 20th century as the result of political and economical changes. GIS methods and data available for the Czech Republic territory can be used for the industrial and post-industrial landscape identification and delineation. The article presents the attempt to identify both the industrial and post-industrial landscape indicators by GIS evaluation of existing data. For their recent mining and industrial history, the Oslavany coal mining was chosen as the model area for new methodology testing. The model of region represents both an example of disappearing traces of human activities as well as an example of mining area transformation. The mining system and the functional mining region were defined for the purposes of geographical research. The functional mining region turned to the dysfunctional (post-industrial) region when many shafts, mine, plants, and factories were closed and left. |
