Popis The paper discusses music culture of Czech pupils and students regarding the teaching of music education.Pupils learning music at elementary art and music schools end their studies after completing the first cycle and do not continue developing their skills further although this moment tends to have the greatest impact on the future direction of an individual’s development and his/her skills. Partial results from an empirical research published by a team of the Department of Music, Faculty of Education, Brno is compared with data that are continuously collected by the Czech School Inspectorate.
