Popis So far, the personality of Joseph Hardtmuth has been dealt with in respect of his architectural and entrepreneurial activities. This contribution concerns Josef Hardtmuth being a "mediator of aesthetic experiences". Thus, it does not provide only a traditional view of Hardtmuth as an architect, but particularly concerns the social environment around him. This could affect the perception of his personality and provide a clue to the interpretation of his architectual work. Until now, very little has been known about Hardtmuth´s passion for music and his relationship to W. A. Mozart and, later, also to F. Schubert and other artists who he was supporting himself. When Josef Hardtmuth reached a high position in the service of the Liechtensteins, he was organizing the so-called "Hausmusik", then very popular parlour meetings of musicians. The personal and social life of this architect merged with cultural life in Liechtenstein´s Herrengasse Palace in Vienna. Being invited by Alois I of Liechtenstein, Hardtmuth with his family was often staying in this palace. Here he had a possibility to meet a lot of persons from the circles of artists and scientists, as well as social élites.
