Popis | In the 21st century, children in the Czech public education system continue to encounter art education mainly in the traditional form. Secondary school students learn art theory and learn techniques of drawing, painting or collage. In some schools students work with modelling clay and occasionally visit a gallery. They spend most of their time at the desk working individually and the teacher evaluates the artwork with a mark. As part of my pedagogical research at the secondary school, pupils experienced topics from the area of performance art through experimental lessons of art education. Children were actively creating, sharing, discussing and collaborating on collective participatory artwork. Reflection of the creative process took place in a supportive environment of open communication. One of the key elements of the research was developing a model of teaching on contemporary art in secondary school art education cultivating contemporary art literacy of pupils as future gallery visitors. |
