Popis International mobility programs allow students to not only discover another university system and deepen their knowledge and skills in foreign languages, but through these stays they can get to know other cultures as well as people living in this culture. Young graduates who have moved to a foreign country are appreciated by potential employers on the labour market since their experiences represent additional competitive assets. In addition, thanks to their international experience, they become more autonomous and openminded. Drawing on the results of psychological research showing the stages of acculturation, coping strategies and lasting changes in personality (Barker, 2015; Olejárová, 2020; Van der Zee & Van Oudenhoven, 2002), we underline in our article the importance of international mobility on the personal development of young adults, we focus on the intercultural aspects of these mobilities and suggest didactic implications to better prepare students for this type of stay. The paper presents ongoing research and its partial results on Erasmus+ mobility of Czech and Slovak students from Masaryk University in Brno in a French-speaking country. The research is based on work and articles on the subject (Dervin & Byram, 2008; Murphy-Lejeune, 2013; Papatsiba, 2003; Parpette & Mangiante, 2010). The analysis of the data collected in the form of semi-structured interviews with the students led to identify the needs of the participants. In order to make international mobility more efficient, it is important to adapt the didactic content of the courses in order to avoid or reduce culture shock by strengthening the development of intercultural communicative competence.
