Popis | The aim of our study is to describe the identity of parents in a selected private alternative school. We chose a narrative approach based on an analysis of eight in-depth interviews with parents. The results of this research show how parent identities are manifested in their narratives in terms of opposition to mainstream education, negotiation of their needs and legitimisation of their choice. The research contributes to ongoing debates on school-choice policy by understanding how parents at a private school perceive themselves, form their decisions on choice of a school and how they justify their actions. Parent narratives are discussed in terms of quality of education as well as in terms of social justice in education. |
