Popis | Claude Tillier was born in 1801 in Clamecy. In his novel My Uncle Benjamin, he created the image of rural society under the ancien regime carefree. But the novel is indeed full of critiques against the municipal authorities and religious at the time of Nevers and Clamecy. This satirical criticism earned the author a lot of problems. The character of Benjamin joined him in the sense of Jacques the Fatalist or Figaro. Nevertheless, it is much more radical is independent, is already the son of the Revolution that the heroes of Diderot and Beaumarchais could not even imagine. In the 20th century, the novel was filmed in 1969 by Edouard Molinaro. |
