Description Learning foreign languages hardly ever is an easy matter for pupils with specific learning disabilities. It is up to the teacher to motivate these pupils sufficiently and to show them useful ways how to learn a foreign language in spite of various difficulties without unnecessary emotional stress. The emotional dimension of learning is an important parameter of success in general, but for pupils with learning disabilities, it is a crucial one. Affective strategies can help regulating emotions, motivation and approaches to learning. The paper gives an outline of the affective strategies as one of the basic sources for foreign language teachers instructing pupils with specific learning disabilities as well as the topic of a research study which has dealt with the extent of implementing these strategies in foreign language teaching.
