Description | The chapter's aim is to analyse social and cultural determinants of a child with hearing impairment integrated into compulsory school. In the first part we concentrate on the handicap as a socio-cultural phenomenon, i.e. on its perception by the society, by the family and also by child itself. In the second part we present the results of qualitative research related to the case study of a boy with a bilateral severe hearing impairment integrated into the compulsory school. The goal is to analyse social and cultural determinants from the parent's point of view. |
