Citation
Description Today, Count Beniowski is presented as a national hero of three European countries. The Hungarians, Slovaks and Poles consider him to be a historical personality. However, since the end of the 18th century, for the rest of Europe his name is chiefly connected to literature. The contribution studies the literary projection of Beniowski as presented by the theatrical productions Beniowski ou Les exiés du Kamchattka by Alexandre Duval (1767-1842) and his German predecessor Alexander von Kotzebue.
