Description Satellite atlases are valuable publications, carrying in themselves a lot of information about the Earth that cannot be red from the classical maps and atlases. They offer innovative and interesting views of the Earth. The question is how to convey them to the public to make their rich informational and educational quality readable and usable outside the scientific community. One way is to use them in the teaching of geography, especially in the detection and evaluation of spatio-temporal contexts. The conducted survey among pupils and students of elementary and high schools, and an university emerged, although interest in them, but for the practical use rather distrust. Concerns arise from the fact that in remotely sensed imagery as compared with the map, the orientation is much worse and reading in them is also worse. Particularly difficult was the reading of images with a predominance of false colours and of images without explanatory description. Correct reading ability is related to the educational level of readers, this is not a functional dependency.
