Description The monograph published by the publisher Paido (2012) presents the results of the research team in the form of individual chapters. The research focuses on two target groups - the Roma pupils and the children of refugees. Each chapter contains the description of the research methodology, the data analysis, but also some recommendations for the educational practice. After the introductory overview of the theoretical concepts of the social disadvantage continues the chapter presenting the newly created theory of the multiple factors that can explain educational failure of the Roma pupils. The next two chapters discussed in the relation to the target groups the issue of the suitability of methodological approaches, but also the suitability of the diagnostic tests, first from the psychological point of view of cognitive processes and afterwards through the phenomenological approach, primarily the MCA method (Meaning Constitution Analysis). The continuing chapter explains and exposes the linguistic construction in the interpretation of the social reality of the theme of coexistence of the Roma and major society from the perspective of the students of two selected secondary schools, this explanation comes through the methods of the discourse analysis. The following two chapters focus the attention on the issue of education of children of foreigners. The authors first present the pragmatic competence and its unrecognized function in the structure of not only learning a new language but also of learning the new culture. The authors based the idea that so far has been underestimated the influence of the culture on the language and therefore they focus not only on the organizational structure of the language (the grammatical and lexical-syntactic components), but also on the importance of the social environment from which the language arises. The following text refers to the practical problems of teaching the refugee pupils in the elementary school. The second part of the monograph presents some possible educational strategies for example the theater in education, the simulation games and also through the informal education or the philosophizing with children. The connection of the research findings and the suggestions of the educational strategies form the specialized unit which is designated for the professional community as well as for the students of the pedagogical disciplines.
