Citation
Description The cypress doors of St. Sabina Basilica in Rome are complete unicum. Made probably between 420-431, they are the only extant extensive narrative cycle on wood. Because of their partial destruction, the previous studies have tried to analysed the iconography of the scenes and their order as a "programme". This conference will try to open - in his first part - some new methodological issues for this late antique monument. The second step of my conference will be focused on liturgical questions ("exceptional" and everyday) unanswered until now. Finally, I will try to reflect on the anthropological features of these doors.
