Description | The introductory part of the paper describes the beginnings of exhibition industry in Brno from the granting of city provileges (1243) to the 19th century. During this time, Brno managed to establish a prominent position in foreign trade. After the loss of a significant part of Silesia, the city gradually became a "Moravian manchestr". Thanks to textile indusrty, especially woollen industry, the city became an important Moravian industry centre. This contribution study describes individual local stages of the exhibition sector from the second half of the 19th century to 1928, when the Exhibition of the Contemporary Culture in Czechoslovakia was organized in Brno. Firther development focused onengineering exhibitions (1955) and organizing international engineering fairs. |
