Description The term competitiveness serves as success criterion of firms, states as well as regions that more and more often become subject of evaluation. The key issue is how to measure it and how changes in methods influence results. The methodology designed in the article is based on calculation of composite index and it is applied to NUTS 2 regions. The main objective of the article is not to evaluate regions’ competitiveness but demonstrate how specific methodology modifications, change in weights of individual indicators or removing some indicators, influences final evaluation. The biggest fluctuations were proved at regions with imbalanced values of indicators. The evaluation of most developed regions is significantly weakened by real GDP growth indicator.
