| Description | The aim of this chapter is to explain the term of communication and communicative competence and shortly describe the development of defining the terms from the first discussions up to both foreign and Czech scholars current theories. We also focus on the main methodology approaches which have significantly influenced development of teaching and learning foreign languages and on the development of communicative competencies within individual approaches. |
