| Description | In his contribution, the author reflects on the Neo-Baroque style motives ordered by Prince Johann II of Liechtenstein. His re-modeling of the Valtice Chateau style-wise complemented the chateau, which was built in the 17th and 18th century. Such style-unifying finishing of chateaus appears at the same time also elsewhere in Moravia in the environment of aristocracy closely connected in the Viennese court (for example Buchlovice, Židlochovice). Neo-Baroque is also utilised in new buildings whose patrons along with art historian Albert Ilg perceived the style as a continuity oriented towards the future united, supranational style of the Austrian monarchy. |
