Description The article was created as the result of the research oriented at the innovation of the content and forms of teaching Mathematics at universities. The article shows the need of improving the functional thinking of the students and in this case also the necessity of presenting this topic to the future teachers of mathematics. After some introductory theoretical remarks there follow a few slightly more difficult exercises, which deal with searching for dependences, formulation of hypotheses and their verificaton and solving of easy functional equations. In the conclusion of the article there is mentioned the exercise, where there is shown an important part of choosing of the proper denoting of the unknown function.
