Description | The paper presents a concept of possible selves as part of the professional self-concept of student teachers. The free response method was used to gather the research data. 194 students answered the question, “Me as a teacher – what is my professional self-concept?” The results of the qualitative research have shown that the degree of construction of conceptual and procedural schemata of possible selves among students in their second year of professional training widely differs. The positive attitude towards the teaching profession and the pupils, as well as maintaining integrity between the professional and global self-concept were the key factors mentioned by the students participating in the research. |
