Description | Positive psychology is a new strand of psychology which focuses on promoting positive personal strengths, emotions to affect personal performance, behaviour and health. It was founded by Dr. Martin Seligman, director of the Positive Psychology Center at the University of Pennsylvania in 2000. Positive education is a way how to applied positive psychology in schools. It is a special approach to education that emphasis of individual strengths and personal motivation to promote individual learning process. Teachers help students to identify their strengths and set academic and personal goals to improve their levels of well-being and performance. Positive education can improve academic results. Several school in Australia, China, United States and United Kingdom implemented new school program of positive education developed by M. Seligman. They conduct evidence-based studies of how their students’ attitudes and overall well-being changes as a result of the program. Positive education can play a crucial preventative role in reducing anxiety and stress within the school environment and emphasis the improvemnet of personal school reasults, social eánd emotional aspects of learning. |
