Description | The chapter presents the methodological procedure of an content analysis dealing with types, functions and content of visuals for teaching culture in 4 German as a second language textbooks used in Czech lower secondary schools. Based on content requirements for the present German language instruction and general design principles, the research problem was approached from the perspective of German language didactics and from the general (psychodidactical) perspective. The main attention of the chapter is paid to the deductively (theory-driven) developed and inductively revised (based on concrete textbooks) system of categories which was used as a research instrument. The methodological procedure and main results of the analysis are described. In addition, consequencies of the investigation for further research and textbook design are discussed. |
