Description The proposed method of determining felting properties of processed rabbit and hare’s hair is characterized in that the hair is first subjected to homogenization and wetting whereupon it is put into a matrix where it is beaten down by a punch through repeated impacts within the range of 75 to 80 strokes/minute for a period of 2 to 30 minutes and at a temperature ranging from 18 to 95 degC until a cube is performed. Subsequently, the cube is removed from the matrix, turned by ninety degrees about its horizontal axis, and inserted back into the matrix. The beating continues for the same time interval and with the same temperature. Then, the cube is removed and the dimensions thereof are measured. Apparatus for making the above-described method consists of a base (4) with a stand (5) fastened therein. The stand (5) is provided with two holders (6) being spaced one to another in vertical direction. A matrix (1), having its lower open end located in a tray (2) with a defined bath, is vertically secured in the lower holder, while at least one oscillating piston (3), provided in its lower section with a punch (7), is vertically secured in the upper holder (6), whereby the dimensions of the punch (7) make it possible to insert thereof in the interior of the matrix (1)
