Description Since the late 19th century, children's literature has played an important part in the educational system in Europe. Since the 1920s, mainly thanks to the Pere Castor series, various didactic games have been included, aiming to develop reading skills and a better understanding of the text and this approach has then spread throughout Europe. This paper presents an introduction of play and games in the school curriculum as well as adult education in El Salvador, Central America, together with a brief outline of the local situation there.
