Citation
Description Despite the efforts of the official communist authorities to use artworks in architecture to demonstrate their political power, many great artists managed to take part in such projects. Using the example of Bohumír Matal's artworks in architecture and in the public space, the paper focuses on wider sociocultural relations in art of the second half of the 20th century in Brno, especially the principles of collaboration among architects and artists, approval processes, the problem of the strict separation of the so–called free art from applied art and other aspects of the aforementioned artworks relating to the forms and functions of architecture and the public space.
