| Description | The aim of this poster is to present a thorough analysis of the newly developed genre of news presenting, known under the name showbiz vlog new. The term showbiz vlog news designates regularly uploaded videos, in which showbiz news is presented. These videos can be found on video-sharing platforms, such as YouTube. The analysis consists of two main parts. The first part deals with the discursive structure of showbiz vlog news and compares it with the structure of broadcast news bulletin. The second part examines five domains of interactional phenomena in showbiz vlog news, namely turn-taking, fragmentations and repairs, lexical choice, paralanguage and inter¬textuality. The analysis has demonstrated that (1) showbiz vlog news has adopted the discourse structure of broadcast news and (2) features characteristic of ordinary conversation are frequently employed in showbiz vlog news. |
