Description | Speaking is a skill that is considered fundamental to communication by teachers and learners alike. Yet despite this it remains very difficult to foster in the classroom. There are wealth of reasons for this, from large class sizes to teachers needing to adhere to a syllabus that advocates lexis and grammar at the expense of speaking skills. In this talk, I will explore these reasons in depth, looking at the problems of speaking in classroom and suggesting practical solutions. Together we’ll look at how we can utilize both traditional means and so called new technologies to enhance the teaching of subskills and encourage students to practice speaking both in and out of the classroom. Finally to end the talk, I will show you can hone learners’ skills at an individual level and give personalized feedback. |
