Description | A study based on a corpus of translations (by different translators, into Czech) of descriptive passages from Charles Dickens novels. The key question was how tendencies to standardization (cf. Toury, 1995), realized as reduction in figurativeness and dynamism, vs. dynamization of description (cf. Fedrová, Jedličková, 2011) were played out in these translations and how the balance of the two tendencies was influenced by translator profiles. |
