| Description | The chapter deals with the possible introduction of a comprehensive system for obtaining evidence in cases with cross-border dimension within the European Union, which aims to maintain and develop the area of freedom, security and justice in the EU. The chapter mainly describes the development of legislation relating to the concept of “mutual recognition”, namely from the conclusions of the European Council in Tampere and suggestions arising from The Hague and the Stockholm programmes, through the arrangements contained in the TFEU to the new Directive regarding the European Investigation Order in criminal matters. |
