Description Using quantitative research methods and techniques of an anonymous questionnaire, the research study focused on the school addiction prevention and substance abuse was conducted in selected secondary schools in Prague. The research questionnaire consisting of 30 items was used for data collection in 8 randomly chosen secondary schools in the Prague region. The total number of respondents participating in the research was 387. The preventive activities in schools are conducted, however, they are not systematic and long-term. The competence of the prevention methodist is often carried out by an educational counsellor, teacher or a member of the school administration. A half of the students have experienced with tobacco, a quarter of respondents smoke regularly, a fi fth of students have already been addictive to it. A half the respondents have experienced illegal drugs, most often cannabis, ecstasy, hallucinogens, and drugs without a prescription. A quarter of students take the illegal drugs repeatedly, 5% of them have been already drugged addictive. 40% of families condemn the drug use and a third of them are not able to cope with it. Two-thirds of respondents know people who use drugs in the surrounding.
