Description The article deals with Renaissance Telč and Slavonice, typical seigniorial towns whose religious history was impacted to a varying extent by the Reformation. A larger number of artworks that can be tied to Lutheran burghers have been preserved especially in Slavonice. The preserved works (murals, sgrafitto, tombs) not only illustrate the resulting situation, they can also be regarded as a type of historical source, as they document the presence of Lutherans even before written sources. Some of the works from the second half of the sixteenth century have been newly interpreted and, in combination with fragmentary archive sources, help elaborate information on the course and nature of the Reformation in both towns belonging to the Catholic Zachariáš of Hradec.
