| Description | This paper aims to determine the most important socio-economic causes leading to the shrinking of cities and to propose the tools, which should help to prevent or to solve the shrinking of cities. To achieve the objective, a set of 111, further typologized, towns is identified by the quantitative data analysis. On the basis of the expert examination of the qualitative and quantitative information, the 8 cities are selected. The semi-structured interviews with the main players in the city from the public, economic and socio-cultural spheres were conducted in these cities. The results are verified through DELPHI panel, where the selected representatives of the identified cities and the experts from the universities were participated. The result determines the causes of the shrinking of the selected cities and the proposals to prevent and to solve the consequences of the shrinking. These conclusions may help to solve the shrinking in the selected cities and also in the cities with the similar problems. |
