Description In the contemporary Quebec literature, two distinguished groups can be perceived thanks to their innovative contribution: that of the Italo-Quebecers and that of the Haitians. Among the Haitian writers who address the theme of integration and exile, Émile Ollivier and Dany Laferriere should be noted. They belong to two generations and two different waves of immigration. In their works, in which the theme of the exile is linked to questions of identity and of a home return, it is crucial to treat the issue of dispossession, the perception of space, time and one’s own self and also the question of a home return anticipated either through the characters (Ollivier) or through an autobiographical narration (Laferriere).
