Description The term self-regulated learning is becoming an important topic in education and psychology. Individual self-regulation skills or competences are among the key terms of educational aims. This paper shows that a high rate of self-regulation of students does not necessarily bring only positive effects to the school environment. It shows that some self-regulation skills increase the rate of particular types of students’ cheating with differences between men and women. The results of this study are based on a quantitative study of a random sample of 346 students of secondary/high schools in Brno. For collecting the data, a method of questionnaire was used. The self-regulated learning and cheating was divided into individual dimensions according to the factor analysis, which allowed a more detailed study of the influences between the variables.
