| Description | The text approximates the opportunities of active living through old age in retirement homes. One tool can be visual art creation of the clients as documented by the implemented activities supported by the project Special visual arts. The documentation provides a lot of valuable information on the benefits of creation for improving the quality of life in the retirement home in Podpěrova street, Brno-Medlánky. The offer of the concrete activities respected the specificities of the said group as well as the possibilities created by the institution. It enabled to extend and sometimes even change the clients´ experiences with creation, getting unconventional experiences, convincing them regarding their own creative abilities and possibilities as well as how to develop their knowledge even further. Various tools of creation, which were supported by mediating examples of creative art, they created an open space for the clients and their authentic creation. The process of creation brought also a lot of information on the interests, motivations and priorities of the clients regarding the facts why to create or if to refuse the offer of activities. It enabled changing the idea of the society on the creative potential of people in advanced age. The concrete examples were the possibility to confirm that creation is an efficient tool for improving their life. |
