Description This paper deals the e-learning course as an effective tool for transfer of knowledge to educational process. As an example, the course “When Silicon is no longer enough” is introduced. The main aim of this open course is to present wide band-gap semiconductor materials silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) and their best-known applications in electronics. This course is intended primarily for three generations: for scholars at elementary schools, for scholars at high schools and for bachelor students at universities. The course consists of three levels: “Will new king of semiconductors come?”, “Wide band-gap semiconductors SiC & GaN” and “Wide band-gap semiconductors applications”. Each level is dedicated for one of the three target groups. The same and related topics are linked with each other by hyperlinks in all levels.
