Description Outdoor learning is a learning strategy that is in the Czech elementary school environment, a well-known but rather less well-used teaching strategy. Based on the content analysis of 20 field-specific publications from 1948 to 2014, focusing on the problems of preparation, implementation and evaluation of various forms of field education, there appeared to be an inconsistency in the terminology of individual organizational forms, especially between 1st and 2nd grade of school. Furthermore, the analysis has brought to light the findings that the contribution of outdoor learning is seen by authors in the publication, especially in the degree of clarity and partly in the opportunity to practice skills. Less often, and without further explanation, the impact on change of attitudes towards nature and the development of social relations between pupils or among pupils and teachers is explained. Last but not least, the analysis has brought to light the fact that publications pay little attention to their own methodology of outdoor learning.
