Description The pilot study is focused on the investigation of lower secondary school pupils attitudes of Czech to the subject of Plant growing. The partial aims are to find out differences between results with respect to gender and favourite subject. A questtionnaire with 5-point Likert type items was used as a research tool. The sample size contained 151 pupils of two Czech lower secondary schools. By factor analysis the items were distributed into four categories: Popularity and aids; interest in plant growing; the sagnificance of plant growing; popularity and difficulty. The overal score indicated positive pupils´attitudes toward plant growing. The influence of the gender on the attitudes of the pupils to the plant growing was insignificant - there is no statistically significant difference between boys and girls. The influence of a favorite subject has proved to be a significant factor influencing pupils' attitudes towards plant growing. The conclusion includes further possibilities of research in this area.
