| Description | This paper marks the 2400th anniversary of birth of Aristotle. It traces transformations of use and meanings of the terms ether and quintessence, which are traditionally connected with Aristotle‘s conception of the cosmos. It is demonstrated that these terms play some role even in the contemporary physics and cosmology. |
