Description International students studying at Masaryk University use English as an international language (EIL) when communicating with members of other cultures. A research into intercultural communication of 263 international students studying at Masaryk University in the years 2010-2016 revealed that substantial number of the students experienced cultural misunderstandings. The paper presents the findings of the research and explains how EIL learners can develop their intercultural communicative competence in order to become competent speakers of EIL.
