Description | This year’s colloquium is dedicated to the music culture of independent Czechoslovakia between 1918 and 1939, the so-called first republic. Political turbulences of 1918 changed the order in Central Europe and also influenced the style of production on the territory of the newly founded state significantly. This historical period is then concluded by the year 1939. The reason is clear: acceptance of the Munich Agreement (1938) and subsequent events changed the character of domestic culture. Topics concerning the music culture on the territory of the newly founded state, cultural associations and clubs, different types of music activity related to the territory by their origin or function are welcome. Special attention will be paid to the creative significance of Leoš Janáček (1854-1928). |
