Description This paper is focused on the topic of dark tourism. This phenomenon is relatively unexplored so I decided to focus on its division into rural and urban type and to make an introduction to this topic. Firstly, paper explains concept of dark tourism and how it is devided into smaller categories. The next part is a comparison between rural and urban sites with regards to their (re)presentation of dark events in the past. The final part is an evaluation of dark tourism sites in Czech republic from the viewpoint of clasifying them as rural or urban. The importance of Prague can be seen, which cause thats there are more urban dark tourism sites in Czech republic. However, in the individual categories, the results are varied. For example hardship and warfare tourism sites in rural areas do have more importance than in the urban areas. On the other hand, sites of horror, grief and genocide tourism are diverse and important in urban areas.
