Description | Insect orientation and circadian rhythms are sensitive to static magnetic field (MF) 1, 2. We’ve previously shown that mammalian-like CryII is indispensable for magnetoreception of cockroach Blattella germanica. Recently, we focused on its circadian rhythm. We found congruent impact of UV light, MF and also broad-band radiofrequency field (RF) all slowing the rhythm down. The clock was even more sensitive to RF than to MF. Considering the ubiquity of RF noise the findings have consequences for environment and health protection. |
