Description The presentation will report the results of an analysis of essays written by beginning students of study programmes Primary school teacher education and Preprimary school teacher education at the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University. The purpose of the investigation was to shed light on how beginning teachers conceptualise the basic educational phenomena and what language they use to write about them. Data about the issues of actors, environment, instruction and educational processes in kindergarten and primary school were analysed. The general framework of the study is the concept of professionalism, professional education, professional development and attracting prospective teachers to the profession. The first year students’ essays were analysed by means of open coding procedures. The analysis is under way, the findings will be available in July. They are expected to contribute to the further improvement of (Pre)Primary school teacher education at the Masaryk University.
