| Description | The paper deals with story of an unfinished historical documentary film "Die Deutschen" (The Germans) by Curt Oertel. After the great success of his documentary on Michelangelo ("Michelangelo: The Life of Titan" from 1938), director Oertel decided to produce and make a historical film about the German past from the beginning to the present. The impetus came 1940 from the propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels. Despite financial support from the regime, the film was not completed by the end of the war. |
