| Description | The aim of the paper was based on the representative portrait of the Ethiopian king Yekunno Amlak (1270–1285) depicted on the wall painting in the Gännätä Maryam church to think about the visual representation of rulers from the early Solomonic period. In the paper, I attempted to clarify the meaning of the visual representation of the king Yekunno Amlak by placing it in the broader iconographic context with other wall paintings in the Gännätä Maryam church on the one hand and by interpretation of written sources on the other side. |
